Hair Restoration

clinic

Hair Restoration: Hair is often associated with youth and good looks. It enhances one’s personality. That’s why people have become self-conscious about their hair loss. We at Riya Clinic provide the treatment that helps restore your hair to make you more confident and good looking. Hair restoration by PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) includes three systematic steps in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed and then injected into the scalp. Some also believes that PRP injections also enhances the chances of natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and also increases the thickness of the hair shaft.

Causes of hair loss:

Family history or hereditary hair loss: This is the most common cause of baldness. It usually occurs gradually with aging and in predictable patterns- a receding hairline and bald spots in men and thinning of hair in women.

Hormonal changes and medical conditions: A number of conditions can cause permanent or temporary hair loss, including hormonal changes in pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and thyroid problems. Medical conditions include alopecia areata which causes patchy hair loss, scalp infections such as ringworm and a hair-pulling disorder called trichotillomania.

Medications and supplements. Hair loss can be a side effect of certain drugs, such as those used for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, gout and high blood pressure.

Radiation therapy to the head. The hair may not grow back the same as it was before.

A very stressful event. Many people experience a general thinning of hair several months after a physical or emotional shock. This type of hair loss is temporary.

Certain hairstyles and treatments. Excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair tight, such as pigtails or cornrows, can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia. Hot oil hair treatments and permanent can cause inflammation of hair follicles that leads to hair loss. If scarring occurs, hair loss could be permanent.

Treatment for hair loss includes:

Avoid and correcting the causative factor.

Medication:

Minoxidil (Rogaine). This is over the counter medication approved for both Men and Women. It is available in the form of liquid or foam which can be applied on the scalp. Possible side effects include scalp irritation, unwanted hair growth on the adjacent skin of the face and hands, and rapid heart rate (tachycardia).

Finasteride (Propecia). This is a prescription only medication approved for Men. It is available in the form of tablets usually not available under the NHS but you can get private prescription. Rare side effects of finasteride include diminished sex drive and sexual function and an increased risk of prostate cancer. Women who are or may be pregnant need to avoid touching crushed or broken tablets.

Other medications. For men, the oral medication dutasteride is an option. For women, treatment may include oral contraceptives and spironolactone.

PRP Therapy for hair loss: At Riya Clinic we use the U225 Mesogun which is based on the aeronautical industry technology – it introduces a robust delivery device resulting in an almost painless treatment. The U225 gun combines needling and cannula into one treatment process – what’s more, the pain is tolerable without the need for numbing cream. The U225 gun has faster treatment time and less pain.

PRP is called Platelet Rich plasma which is getting more popular day by day in medical and cosmetic treatment. This is a your own blood product, which is drawn in a syringe and centrifuged with a very high speed centrifuge which helps in separating your blood into two components one is the red cell and the other one is the Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP). This PRP derived is very rich in collagen, growth factors etc which is then injected into your scalp which helps in regrowth of the hair. Depending on your hair loss you might need a few sessions of these injection to get desired effect.
